If you have a home aerial yoga hammock, it will take your aerial yoga practice to the next level. It is the best piece of sensory equipment you can buy for yourself and your famlly. However, I have some words of advice for you to consider.
Prior Experience is Necessary. It is very important to have experience practicing the poses with an aerial yoga instructor present. If you are not wrapped correctly, an injury can occur. Some poses may be too difficult or require an assist.
Never Practice Alone. Always practice aerial poses with parental supervision. Never try a new pose, especially an intermediate to advanced pose without practicing it first with an aerial instructor. It is important to be able to easily move in and out of the pose. One wrong twist and you will be stuck in the air.
Don’t Do Drops. Home structural supports are not made for the force of a aerial drop. Drops are dangerous and need padded flooring and a trained aerial teacher to double check wraps before you free fall to a pose. It is also important to have someone present to spot your drop.
Don’t Compromise Safety for Fun. While swinging and spinning are fun they are not safe in all poses. Swinging while upside down can lead to a head injury.
